The Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee is an economic development organization whose purpose is to assist the private sector in creating quality jobs in the region by using the underutilized land, facilities, equipment, personnel and technology available at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge complex.
In the lead article of the prestigious Economic Development Journal, entitled “CROET, Transforming Government Liabilities into Community Assets,” the reindustrializtion activities and successes in transforming the former K-25 Uranium Processing Plant to a private sector based brownfield industrial complex are chronicled. This continues an impressive series of articles and awards received by CROET and it's partners at the U.S. Department of Energy and Bechtel Jacobs Corporation for the work being done under the auspices of reindustrialization.
